The
At Marnhull

The Crown Inn at Marnhull lies 3 miles north of Sturminster Newton; 6 miles west of Shaftesbury (with its famous Gold Hill from a well-known bread advert!); and 10 miles east of Sherborne (with its Abbey and good array of select shops). Larger towns such as Bath, Salisbury, Blandford Forum, Dorchester, Poole and Bournemouth are also all less than an hour away.

Ideal for leisurely breaks to get away from it all, Marnhull is the perfect base for walking in the rural countryside, following the Hardy trail, discovering the Jurassic Coast or exploring Dorset county as a whole.   See our  ‘What’s on’  page for details of local events.

Local Area

Marnhull, (‘Marlot’ in Thomas hardy’s Tess of the D’Urbervilles), lies in  the Blackmore Vale, an area of outstanding natural beauty covering a large part of North Dorset.  Close to the Somerset and Wiltshire borders, Marnhull is ideally situated for exploring many local attractions, towns, places of interest, historic sites, buildings, and of course the famously diverse Dorset Jurassic coast.
